Last night one of my friends said, "his letters will make your skin crawl!" Actually they didn't make my "skin crawl". I felt myself becoming a lot more nauseous while reading them. And I've gotten physically ill from reading about cannibalism in other countries. But this guy, Albert Fish, murdered, raped and ate children. The absolute sum of all evil. Quite the demon wrapped in early 20th century clothes and mustache! His life misadventure is a charming tale of one's coming of age in America in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
My fascination with serial killers comes from my interest in politics: Albert Fish looked "normal" enough I suppose - you know, for a man living in the late 19th century, early 20th. So every time I see, read or hear about these mentally defective freaks of nature I can't help but think, "Is Alberto Gonzales or Hillary Clinton as deranged and psychotic as Albert Fish but they keep it a better secret?"... even though Alberto Gonzales does have that torture memo. What about the elite, the wealthy corporate-types with a lot of power and too much time on their hands? Or how about your favorite liberal or conservative "liberator"? huh? Yeah. These people who we kinda trust -- we put our lives in their hands or our money in their pockets. You never know. Think about that while going to sleep tonight.
