A Vigilante

... a strange man suddenly jumped out from nowhere in a "Kick-Ass" themed outfit pushing a car thief to the ground! As the car thief struggled, the strange man holds him down, turns towards me and says with a look of distress and panic in his eyes, "call the goddamn cops! now!". As I ran I heard two gun shots - I foolishly turn around and to my horror I see the car thief getting up and the strange man lying on the ground, bleeding. The car thief looks up and at me, in that slow, robotic, Jason Voorhees-movie-serial killer-styled movement and points his gun in my direction. I ran. If you've ever had a man chasing you with a gun in the middle of an open parking lot at 2 o'clock in the morning all you can do is anticipate the feeling of his bullets driving deep into your back, neck, legs, ... maybe even ass. Knowing I was bound for some kind of unknown physical pain (I had never been shot before) and death, I ran as fast as I could hoping I could somehow find something to hide behind, or hoping he'd get a clean head shot in so I would die quickly, or hoping I would miraculously survive this insane nightmare!; therefore, I wanted the car thief to be a really good shot or a really poor shot (the weird, illogical thoughts that go through your head when you're confronted with a life threatening situation). Before I hear any gun shots there is this enormous flash of light from behind me, as if a car pulled up for a split second and vanished. Nevertheless I fell to the ground in shear terror thinking I'd been shot... or I'd heard a shot ... or .... something to that effect. Sounds of a slight struggle are heard for less than a second then, dead silence. I lie on the cold concrete and begin to hear the faint sound of sirens and nothing else. The sirens are getting closer and there is just no other noise. Afraid to open my eyes, I do anyway and notice the car thief lying on the ground, with his wrist contorted almost in the opposite direction of what a normal hand should look like, unconscious, with a deeply swollen black eye, and breathing in and out of his bloody mouth and nose. "What happened?" Maybe the strange "Kick-Ass" man had gotten up and done this? No, he was still lying on the ground...
